JazzTimes magazine calls Jackie Ryan “one of the most outstanding vocalists of her generation,” and it’s difficult to disagree. The Bay Area native Jackie Ryan has been on the rise since the late 1990s, when her acclaimed debut album, For Heaven’s Sake, made a big splash on the national jazz scene, and the accolades have continued to roll in. Ryan has lent her sublime voice to work with jazz heavyweights Clark Terry, Toots Thielemans, Jon Hendricks, Ernie Watts and others.

The Guarneri Jazz Quartet has established a dedicated following for its innovative interpretations of jazz classics and originals. The group features some of the most creative musicians in the San Francisco Bay Area, and reflects their wide diversity and vast experience. Its members have performed and recorded with artists including Ahmad Jamal, Jimmy Smith, Bobby Hutcherson, Joe Henderson, Mose Allison, John Heard, George Duke, Donald Byrd, George Cables, Sun Ra, Pharoah Sanders, and Roger Kellaway.

Ryan and the Guarneri Quartet are joined by up-and-coming talent Jomei Greer for this performance.

This series has been curated by Mario Guarneri, founder and executive director of Jazz in the Neighborhood. The young emerging artists have been coordinated by Owen Clapp who also will be performing on the series with Nathan Bickart an alumni of the JitN youth program of 2016.
