TrumpetSuperGroup

Saturday, December 16, 8pm at the CJC Jazzschool

With virtuosity, elevation, and elation, the best trumpet players west of the Mississippi, all in one place, playing uplifting holiday music.

TrumpetSuperGroup celebrates the uplifting possibilities of trumpet performance with five trumpeters: Dave Scott, Mario Guarneri, Erik Jekabson, Mike Olmos, and Doug Morton, backed by Colin Hogan, piano; Tommy Folen, bass; and Jeff Marrs, drums. Together they inspire audiences and each other with unmatched range of style, virtuosity, and beauty, mixing classical and jazz with a healthy dose of improvisation. Their goal is for the whole to be greater than the sum of its parts. Says Scott, “When we come together and play, we are inspired by the talents and emphasis of our esteemed colleagues. What we choose to improvise, and the character of our individual styles can take on greater meaning in the context of the collage of the group.”

This is a Guaranteed Fair Wage Fund event where each musician will be paid $150 in advance, regardless of ticket sales. Jazz in the Neighborhood makes this possible by subsidizing 40% of their pay. CJC guarantees the rest. For tickets and other information, please contact the Jazzschool at CJC.
