Vocalist Clairdee’s inspiring new album honors the extraordinary life of African-American singer, actor, and activist Lena Horne. It integrates inventive arrangements of songs by Billy Strayhorn and contemporary composers with compelling storytelling — examining Horne’s personal struggles and pivotal role in changing attitudes about race and America’s stereotypical view of African-Americans.
