Rhodessa Jones with Idris Ackamoor & the Pyramids

Saturday, December 7, 7:30 pm at Bird & Beckett

A double bill: first up the duo of Rhodessa Jones and Idris Ackamoor, followed by a set from Idris Ackamoor and the Pyramids.

Musicians in the Pyramids will be Sandy Poindexter, violin; Robert Cobb, guitar;  Charles Thomas, bass; Abdul Wahid, percussion, and Bob Marshall, drums. They’ll be performing music from their just completed new album entitled Shaman!, which resonates with personal musical statements about love and loss, mortality, the after life, family, and salvation. Also on the program will be music from their acclaimed album An Angel Fell, which concerns the worldly themes of climate change, political and social musical commentary.

This is a Guaranteed Fair Wage Fund event where each musician will be paid in advance, regardless of ticket sales. Jazz in the Neighborhood makes this possible by subsidizing 40% of their pay. Bird & Beckett and the Jazz Philanthropists Union guarantees the rest. The $20 cover charge at the door is a crucial component of that guarantee, though a sliding scale is available to those who need avail themselves of it. For tickets and other information, please contact Bird & Beckett.
